Apple's fight against e-waste
Apple, the company who makes your Mac Books and iPods, is doing multiple things to fight the problem of e-waste. The company is trying very hard to remove great amounts of toxic chemicals in their products. For example, the iMac now has less than 1 gram of lead while their first model had 484 grams of lead. Apple also plans to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of mercury in their products by transitioning to LED backlighting for all displays. Apple also has recycling programs in 93% of where their products are sold. An estimated 19 pounds of e-waste is recycled per year.
